‘Langley’ Entrance & Pedestrian Gates

As with all of our gates, our Langley Gates can be customised to your design specifications. ‘Langley’s’ are the name we give to our gates that feature any type of curved top, with palisade gaps between the curve and the other two-thirds of the leaf – as shown by the various images in our product gallery. They are available as double entrance gates, and/or with accompanying pedestrian side gate.

Locally, Langley is the place where many of the New Forest Fencing family grew up playing cricket, and so these gates have been given a name worthy of making a special statement to your home.

Our Langley gates offer the following:

  • Come in options of a more cost-effective softwood, or Sapele or Iroko hardwood for longer lasting durability.
  • Available with or without ‘horns’ at either end of the gate. The absence of ‘horns’ can give the gates a more contemporary look, whereas adding horns, gives a look of traditional elegance.
  • Can be paired with matching pedestrian entrance gates (see our product gallery for an example)
  • Can be created in a similar look with a steel-frame, and clad with hardwood, for yet another twist on this stunning gate
  • Can be installed and automated as sliding or opening gates.

The Langley is basically a matchboard gate with a Palisade infill, made from 70mm x 45mm PAR timber, with a mortice and tenon framework, and clad with 80mm x 16mm T.G.V. boards. This gate does not have a capping, but has a reduced height in the middle and a curved top rail.

The palisade uprights are morticed into the framework, at equal spacing’s and have a finished size of approx 50mm x 16mm on gates small to medium size gates, which we increase to approx 70mm wide on larger gates.

On gates over 1.2m wide each leaf, we increase the size of the framework to 95mm x 65mm at no extra cost.

Please note: When ordering these gates, we need to know the height from the bottom of the gate to the position where the Palisade starts at the hanging side as well as the difference in height between the outside hanging and the inside shutting stiles.

These gates should not be pressure treated, as they are made from Kiln dried Timber, which is stored dry and assembled in a dry workshop. It is important to realise that when this timber comes in contact with the elements, rain etc. it will take on the moisture and swell. This will be noticeable especially on the tongue and groove boarding, which may distort the framework and try to force the gate apart at the joints.
